Celebrate Recovery

Currently, this ministry is not meeting, but will probably be relaunched this Fall 2010. The purpose of Abundant Life Community Church’s Celebrate Recovery Ministry is to spend time together and celebrate God’s healing power in our lives through the Christ-centered 12 steps and the 8 Recovery Principles found in the Beatitudes. This experience allows us to “be changed.”

We open the door by sharing our hurts, habits, and hang-ups with one another. In addition, we become willing to accept God’s grace in solving our life’s problems.

By working with Christ-centered biblical principles, we begin to grow spiritually. We become free from our addictive, compulsive, and dysfunctional behaviors. This freedom creates peace, serenity, joy, and most importantly a stronger personal relationship with God and others.

As we progress through the principles and steps we discover our personal loving and forgiving Higher Power - Jesus Christ.

R = Realize I’m not God. I admit that I am powerless to control my tendency to do the wrong thing and my life is unmanageable. (Principle 1, Step 1)

“Happy are those who know they are spiritually poor.”

E = Earnestly believe that God exists, that I matter to Him, and that He has the power to help me recover. (Principle 2, Step 2)

“Happy are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”

C = Consciously choose to commit all my life and will to Christ’s care and control. (Principle 3, Step 3)

“Happy are the meek.”

R = Reserve a daily time with God for prayer, Bible reading and self - examination in order to know God and His will for my life and to gain power to follow His will. (Principle 7, Steps 10 & 11)
